Daddy Kevin got to trim the cord, and our midwife, Susan, placed her on Mama Anoosh's chest shortly after birth.
She is now just over 2 weeks old. She is breastfeeding well and has already grown so much since she was born! We will have updated weight and length measurements when she goes to her 3-week pediatrician appointment this week.
Sylvia is named for my paternal grandmother, who will celebrate her 94th birthday in August. The name Reena comes from Grandma Sylvia's cousin, who was the first in her family to attend college. During the shortage of male labor during World War II, Cousin Reena was recruited as an engineer to design airplanes. After the war, she returned to teaching elementary school math.
These are just some of the many photos we have taken. Later posts will feature Sylvia with other family and friends.
Here we all are in the O.R. just after Sylvia's birth:

On the way to the recovery room:

Such a cutie!

Daddy soothing the baby during one of the many middle-of-the-night feedings:

Sylvia spends her awake time eating and the rest of the time sleeping, particularly in the early days. Big yawn!

The best place: Mama's chest:

But she also loves being in the sling:

At last, a view of Sylvia's beautiful eyes:

Our perfect little girl:
